Little Blessings Early Learning Centre

UX Designer & Frontend Developer

Designed and built a warm, intuitive childcare website that clearly communicates the centre's values, curriculum, and trustworthiness to parents.

Client brief

Little Blessings Early Learning Centre needed a modern website that reflected their Christian values, learning philosophy, and commitment to holistic child development.

The site needed to build trust with parents while clearly explaining the centre's approach, curriculum, and daily practices.

Problem

Parents choosing an early learning centre rely heavily on clarity, trust, and accessibility.

The centre needed a digital presence that was easy to navigate, emotionally reassuring, and informative without overwhelming visitors.

Process

I treated the website like a guided tour for parents — clear, warm, and reassuring — while keeping it fast and easy for the centre to maintain.

Because trust is everything in early childhood education, the focus was on clarity, credibility, and helping parents take the next step (enquire, book a visit).

  • Reviewed the centre's values and teaching approach (Christian values + Te Whāriki) to shape the tone and structure
  • Planned the content around parent questions (Who are you? What do you offer? Is my child safe? How do I enrol?)
  • Designed a calm, friendly visual direction (soft colours, clear typography, generous spacing)
  • Built responsive layouts that work well on mobile (where many parents browse)
  • Applied accessibility basics (semantic headings, keyboard-friendly interactions)
  • Optimised performance (compressed images, lightweight UI, good page structure for SEO)
Design approach

The visual direction focused on softness, warmth, and approachability — avoiding overly corporate styling.

Typography, spacing, and colour choices were made to feel welcoming and easy to read for busy parents.

Content structure

Information was organised around what parents care about most: safety, learning philosophy, daily routines, and values.

This reduced cognitive load and helped visitors quickly find reassurance and answers.

What I did

I designed and built a website that prioritises clarity, warmth, and trustworthiness, while aligning with New Zealand's early childhood education framework.

  • Structured content around parent questions and concerns
  • Designed a calm, friendly visual style suitable for early learning
  • Built a responsive frontend experience for all devices
  • Optimised performance and SEO for discoverability

Outcome

  • Delivered a calm, trustworthy website that reflects the centre’s values and learning philosophy.
  • Improved clarity and accessibility for parents exploring early learning options.
  • Created a scalable foundation that can evolve as the centre grows.

Next steps

  • Introduce parent-focused features such as FAQs.
  • Explore adding a homepage image slider to showcase children at play and everyday moments at the centre, helping parents better visualise the environment.
